After School & Summer Programming

Physical activity and safe places to play are an integral part of growing and learning. All sports are led by volunteer coaches. CPS offers the following opportunities for after school and summer athletics:

• Boys and Girls Cross Country (Summer). We have one co-ed team for middle school-aged students
• Boys and Girls Basketball (Fall/Winter). We have six teams (3 boys, 2 girls, 1 co-ed) for students from 3rd-8th grades.
• Boys and Girls Track (Spring). We have one co-ed team for students in 4th-8th grades.
• Boys and Girls Flag Football (Spring).

In partnership with the Camden Youth Aviation Program, the CPS Aviation Adventures Club provides 6th-8th grade students with an exciting opportunity to learn more about Science, Technology, Engineering and Math through the world of aviation. Facilitated by licensed pilots, the club meets weekly for 12 weeks in the spring semester and takes students through various lesson plans designed to encourage their interest in joining the world of aviation. The program incorporates field trips to local airports, aviation manufacturing plants, and museums, and culminates in the students flying with certified pilots through the EAA Young Eagles Program. Since its inception, more than 150 students have taken part in the program. One of the first graduates of the program just entered college, and will study aerospace engineering. He has also joined the NJ Air National Guard.

In partnership with Sister Cities Girlchoir, Catholic Partnership Schools offers a co-ed choir to students in 6th-8th grades. Students learn contemporary and traditional music, and have the opportunity to perform on their own and with other Sister Cities choirs at locations across the region, including: Temple University, the Constitution Center, the Grand Opera House in Wilmington, and the Lincoln Center in New York. . The CPS Choir debuted in November 2010 at the Catholic Leadership Institute Dinner.

In partnership with Symphony in C, Catholic Partnership Schools offers beginning instrumental music lessons in 4th and 5th grade to any interested Partnership student. Each school houses a particular instrument family – percussion, strings, brass, and woodwinds. Students choose an instrument from their school’s “family” and receive weekly lessons throughout the year from a Symphony in C instructor. Once they are through the first year, students may continue in the Advanced program, taught by the CPS Band Director. Both beginners and advanced band members join together to perform at the annual Dreams of our Children event in May of each year.
